Advanced tour of about 70 km with four rapids that require land transportation.
The tour starts in Avesta below the power station, and here you follow the mighty Dalälven winding toward the sea. You will pass beaver areas where nature is showing clear signs of active beavers. You paddle past Brunnbäck where the battle between Dalecarlia men and Danes was held in 1521. Take time to paddle into Orsviken and the Kungsgården lakes which are wonderful paddle zones characterized as a delta landscape.
The journey between Lake Bäsingen and Bysjön takes you through varied woodland and agricultural landscape with very good fishing where you can find fish like pike, walleye, perch, whitefish, burbot, grayling, eel, tench, whitefish and trout.
From Bysjön, the tour continues through Tyttbo, a 3 km long area of rapids known for great fishing, and on into the Färnebofjärden National Park with a nature which is unparalleled elsewhere.
The southern part of Dalälven coincides with Limes Norrlandicus, the biological northern limit where Swedish northern and southern plant and animal species meet. The national park contains more than 200 islands and islets, and there are special rules for camping and fires. Within the national park, camping and fires are only allowed at specific locations.
You dispose the days as you wish and set camp where you find a good spot. You need to be back at Tyttbo at approximately 18:00 on Day 7.
It is possible to paddle in some of the rapids at high water, but he or she who is not a very experienced canoeist should avoid paddling in the rapids of Dalälven
